Imagine being thrown into a place that occupies hectares of land, located on a hill and worst of all, feeling like you've just arrived from another planet..Well, I'm just going through this and being the first week of the second semester, its not easy trying to get the hang of things especially how Flinders education system works. But, I've gone through just that and made it through the first week..
[Mon]Had a Statics for Medical Science lecture (aka as maths stats) in the arvo (aussie slang for afternoon). As I had plenty of time on my hands, I printed my lecture notes in the morning and decided to explore the FLinders Medical Center(FMC) as most of our classes will be there. On our way to the FMC, Phoebe & I met a 3rd-yr student Nutriton & Dietetics student, on her way for class at the FMC. We sought help from her and she brought us around the FMC. As she had to attend a class, we thanked her and explored our way around the FMC. The maths stats lecture in the late arvo was easy to understand as I had done abit of SPSS in TP for my major project.Of course, finding the LT was not easy and had to be dependable on the map. Thankfully, the place was easy to find. By the time class ended, it was already dark. Thankfully, the bridge is well-litted but the pathway back to the uni hall was quite dark.I gotta rememeber to bring my torchlight every monday!!
[Tue]Today's timetable is pretty packed as I need to shuffle between places-->FMC, Sturt Building and back to the FMC. To make matters worst, we had to walk uphill to STurt building and rush back to the FMC within a space of 10mins for the introductory lecture for Biochemistry for Human Disease. Also,I got to know a few new frens from one of my topic, Health: A psychological perspective. They are Lucy, Kirsty and James, and they will be my gtroup mates for the rest of the semester. Also, I realised that Kristy's is enrolled in the same topics as me such as Human Physiology as well as Biochemistry of Human Disease. I also realised that she's planning to transfer to my course as she's currentlt pursuing a Bachelor in Health Sciences. Well, I hope to see you in our course Kristy!!
[Wed]Only had 1 lecture in the morning at 9am..ARGH!!But nonetheless, we spent our time by taking the free loop service to see its route as well as I completed my reading and reading response for Health, which is due next tuesday.
[Thur]Had a Human Physiology lecture at 12nn. I could not comprehend what the lecturer was saying and felt that 1/2 the time, he was giving alot of egs for the chapter on homeostatis. Thankfully, its only 1 lecture on this chpter!!!As we finished class early, Phoebe & I decided to go to Marion Shopping centre to do some of our grocery shopping.
[Fri]Had classes in the morning. I realised something, that none of the students in my Biological Chemistry checked their study plan and realise that there was no 9am lecture. As we felt that the lecturer will give out the new timetable, we decided to be there at 9am. Haha..Had a PBL topic, Biochemistry of Human Disease after that. It was quite ok but I realised that in order to be able to contribute better, I should have read my PBPN notes beforehand. But, on the whole, the tutorial was quite ok. Human Physiology lecture after that was quite difficult to understand. I couldn't comprehend head or tail abt the action potential, equilibrium potential etc. But I some sort understood it as I revised my work. Went out to the city today with a few missions on hand:
1) Help Auntie Dot find the pair of shoe with a size bigger for daughter-->Mission failed as the store have removed that design.
2) Buy the magnetic bracelets for Auntie Jane, Auntie Dot and for my mum-->Mission accommplished and within the price range that they quoted to us ($30). We bargained with the lady and brought the price down to $90 for all 3 pcs.
3)Buy groceries for our weekends' lunches and dinners-->mission accomplished.
Hmm, Phoebe's birthday is fast approaching and I have nothing up my sleeve. I hope that that something will please her as I can't get anything for her since most of the time we are together..Keke..Ok, a rather long entry..Gotta go down fr the bbq liao..Take care,peeps..

Difference
Time sure ticked by really fast..All together, they've (referring to Uncle Edmund, Auntie Yvonne, Auntie Jane, Uncle Thomas, Auntie Dorothy, Uncle Charlie and most importanly, my MUM!) been in Adelaide for 10 days and today, they'll be returning back to Singapore, leaving just Phoebe and I behind. Sob Sob..I'm beginning to feel the tears in my eyes liao..I didn't feel that bad while I was at the airport when I left as my mum was with me. However when we were saying our good-byes, I realise that I no longer have my mum with me. I have never felt so lonely and vulnerable before. I was never alone. My family was always with me. Even when I went for camps or chalets, I had never felt like that before because I know whenever the chalet/camps end, there's always a place that I call "HOME".
FAMILY-->a word that is used so often. But yet when we meet a crisis, we know we can always count on them to help us tide through that crisis.Whenever we make a wrong move in our life, we know that even as the whole world discriminates against us, there's always our family to fall back on. Yes, a family is important to me. I love you, Mum, Dad, Jie, Kor, Baby and those at home. And yes, I sure miss all of you and I can't wait to get back in December!!!Studying in a foriegn is sure tough but I promise you, I'll be a good girl and study real hard!!!Miss u all..my eyes are tearing as I typed this entry..:(

Greetings from Down Under..
Its been about a week since I first stepped soil onto Adelaide...Leaving Singapore, my family and friends seemed like the hardest thing to do..But I did it and boarded the plane on 13th July..The flight to Adelaide was a smooth one..I managed to catch some shuteye but on the entire journey, I was watching Miss Congenitality 2, playing games with phoebe until an announcement was heard "Ladies and Gentlemen, this is your Captain speaking. We will be arriving in Adelaide shortly. The temperature outside is 8oC, with slight winds..."
Adelaide's a nice place to be in though its pretty cold now since its the winter..But I'm getting pretty used to the weather..I've done a bit of sightseeing before school starts..Here's a recount of how I spent my first fewdays here..
[Thur] After arriving in Adelaide, I was received by a representative from Flinders Housing and brought straight to the hostel. I had to carry up my luggages through those flight of stairs..What a way to start my day..After checking into the hotel, we were brought for a tour around the hostel grounds..After that, I did alittle unpacking before the rest came to join us and we went to the bank to place money into the bank account. After that, we sightsee abit around the city before coming back to the hostel for dinner as we had to attend a talk at 10am the next morning..I had never felt so cold in my lifer before..The hostel is a place I wanted to avoid for the next few days as our parents were in the city. As I went to the toilet to take a bath, it was freezing!!The ground was icy cold, and as I removed my clothes,I was chattering..Bathing became a quick affair for that day..
[Fri] Had breakfast in the morning-->oats and a hashbrown with hot chocolate. Made my sandwich for lunch before setting off for the talk organised by the ISSU. Did some enrollment and met my lecturer to dicuss the topics that I will be taking this semester. Btw, Phoebe and I got lost while making our way to the Flinders Medical flats and the 200m walk uphill was worst than the 1 that I used to run up near St. Nicholas school (my sis wld know). When we arrived, we were late and panting..After discussions, we left to do our enrolment only to be told that we do ot meet the pre-requisites..Called and informed the lecturer and said it would be settled on mon. Met our parents in the city in the evening.
[Sat, Sun] We went down to Handorf, a place settled by Germans. They sell pretty things but mostly sourvenirs for tourists.
[Mon] Went back to school as we thought we could settle our enrolment but who knows, its not done yet..speaking of efficiency..we wasted 1 day..haiz..joined our parents in the evening..went round looking for a restuarant that's opened but most were njot as most shops closed at abt 5pm except for those owned by Chinese owners.
[Tue] Went on a day tour along Murray river. On the way there, we stopped at Dundee where we were able to see some wildlife in Aussie like kangaroos, donkeys, snakes, crocodiles etc..I touched 1...After that we had buffet lunch. The chocolae mousse was good!!its my favourite..After that hearty meal, the tourguide, Gayle, drove at top neck speed to Murray river as we were behind schdule...The river was nice..Enjoyed the scenery there..
[Wed] Went down to Glenleg where the beach was located...Nice beaches..white sand, crystal blue sea, pretty seashells..I would love it in the summer..Walked around in Glenleg before taking a bus down to Port Adelaide..Nothing much to see there except dolphins..And also because we were there late, reached there at abt 4pm. SO,we took a bus back to city..

Personality test
Tried out a personality test that I happened to stumble upon at Shee wee's blog..U too can try this test here.
Your view on yourself:
You are intelligent, honest and sweet. You are friendly to everybody and don't like conflict. Because you're so cheerful and fun people are naturally attracted to you and like to talk to you.
The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:
You like serious, smart and determined people. You don't judge a book by its cover, so good-looking people aren't necessarily your style. This makes you an attractive person in many people's eyes.
Your readiness to commit to a relationship:
You are ready to commit as soon as you meet the right person. And you believe you will pretty much know as soon as you might that person.
The seriousness of your love:
You like to flirt and behave seductively. The opposite sex finds this very attractive, and that's why you'll always have admirers hanging off your arms. But how serious are you about choosing someone to be in a relationship with?
Your views on education:
Education is less important than the real world out there, away from the classroom. Deep inside you want to start working, earning money and living on your own.
The right job for you:
You're a practical person and will choose a secure job with a steady income. Knowing what you like to do is important. Find a regular job doing just that and you'll be set for life.
How do you view success:
You are afraid of failure and scared to have a go at the career you would like to have in case you don't succeed. Don't give up when you haven't yet even started! Be courageous.
What are you most afraid of:
You are concerned about your image and the way others see you. This means that you try very hard to be accepted by other people. It's time for you to believe in who you are, not what you wear.
Who is your true self:
You are full of energy and confidence. You are unpredictable, with moods changing as quickly as an ocean. You might occasionally be calm and still, but never for long.

Reminiscence
As the saying goes, "Don't forget to stop and smell the roses". Day in, day out, people are running on a very tight schedule, practically crazy from their busyness and semi-nutso from the stress. At times, in the moment of sucrease from their misery just after they rush by, one might overhear them say,"Hey! we've little time to play with! Let's stop, try to relax and catch our breath!" Time is indeed like a toy! We should have the opportunity to treat it like our intimate friend and, who knows, we may benefit from it. However, more often than not, people usually treat Time as their perpetual enemy or otherwise like some kind of "time bomb": pre-programmed, ominously ticking and looking set to burst!
The last week has been a rather busy one for me. Reminiscence was on mind as I recalled that fateful day, 22 March 2005-->the day I completed my final examination in school. It seemed like just yesterday when I just stepped into poly and starting out the course. Before I realise it, I am now embarking on another journey in my life. With only about a week to spare, I tried to meet up with many of friends as I did not have a farewell party. The cost of having 1 is quite a bomb.
[Wed] Met up with phoebe at Orchard MRT on a mission for Sally's 21st birthday. This mission was not an easy 1 as we were not sure of what to get for Sally. Also, we tried not to let her know that we were meeting up just in case she suspected that we getting her presents!!(haha!!) After visiting many shops later, we finally got together her birthday present. It was a mixture of gifts which, I (& phoebe) hoped that Sally like it!
[Thur] There were intial plans of meeting up NC2 for dinner. It has been ages since we last met as a team and on our last outing, Cherline was absent. However, as 2 of my teammates were not able to make it and I was not really keen on the outing, I made a last minute attempt to ditch the entire outing. Besides, I wanted to spend some quality time with my family since my older sister was away for camp and my dad had to work late from mon-wed. I really treasured the opportunity of being able to dine together as a family and also since I would not be home for dinner for the next few days.
[Fri] Met Jasmine for lunch at Bishan. It has been ages since we last saw each other and the last time that we saw each other was when we returned to PL to collect our O levels results. Its like 8 yrs since we last met...My gdness!!Nonetheless, the time was spent catching up with each other. After that, I had to meet phoebe at Tampines interchange where we went for Sally's 21st bdae party at Aloha Changi. My gdness..the place is so ulu...Quite hard to find but, let me praise phoebe & myself..We managed to find the place without calling Sally..YEAH!!!A big pat for the both us..I'm so proud of us!!I enjoyed the time there though I was there for a short while..Really sorry we left before you cut ur cut..Nonetheless, I hope you liked the present that we picked out for you..
[Sat] Went to Phoebe's house for her farewell party..The food prepared by her dad was GGRREEAATT and delicious too!!!Haha...Its was a rather small gathering with some her friends..Caught up with Tammy & the rest...After her party, we adjourned to CoffeeBean for a dose of coffee..
[Sun] Went out for lunch with my family..At the restaurant, my da jie found a baby cockroach inside the claypot chicken..What was thought to be restaurant with reputation has been tarnished by this incident..What's more, the restuarant is owned by my cousin's husband's mother..After the lunch, I had to rush to meet yanming and the rest for the chalet..Though we were supposed to meet at 4pm, all of us were late...We bought some food sufficient for the night's survival, checked into the chalet, had dinner. As we felt bored at the chalet while watching the NKF show, we decided to go to the bowling alley only to find out that it would be closing in an hr's time..So, we went out for a long walk instead..But the walk wasn't long as we received a phonecall saying that Si Yuen was not feeling well at the chalet..After I "deduced" what she was "suffering", it was only a case of dehyration..Slept at about 4 plus while being "molested" by Grace during my sleep..
[Mon] Woke up in the morning at abt 8plus and got ready for a swim..As we planned to go for KBox session, we swam for abt an hour..Nonetheless, it was great exercising my lazy and fat body. Went to KBox for a singing session and my! Venice sure does have a nice voice..Should have gotten her autograph before she got famous..Haha..HAd bbq in the evening and I was kinda pissed by someone-->Was lazy, drank most of the alcohol..The night ended on a rather teary note as I bade farewell to the ASc pple...I couldn't control..My,what an embarrassing situation..Nontheless, I was glad I was once part of their memory!!
[Tue] Went to school for the graduation ceremony..the ceremony was very punctual..Anyway, I did it!!!I finally graduated with a diploma!!!YEAH!!Kudos to me and all the Graduants of 2005!!!

WE DID IT!!
I think I have reminised enough...Kudos to all who read this super long entry...

As busy as a bumble BEE
Haven't had much time to blog recently..Been busy with keeping all my appointments..As you know, I'll be fllying to Australia in about a week's time..I'm so looking forward to it..Anyway, with my hectic schedule of meeting pple, I finally found some time to blog..
[Fri] Met Sophie at 4.30pm at Orchard Mrt..wow..there were so many pple, that the both of us missed each other..Haha..Nonetheless, we walked from Wisma to Taka in search of the Giordano pants that I wanted but to NO avail as the design has yet to be decided whether or not it will be sold in Singapore..At Taka, I wanted to go to the travel goods department to check out if they sell luggage straps..After checking out, we had to decide where we wanted to have our meal..After much discussions, we decided to head to Seoul Garden to have our dinner. We started eating at 5pm and ended only at 7.45pm..I guess, this is 1 meal that Sophie would have classified it as "bo hua". WHY? We ate alot of vegetables, she pan-fried beansprouts, drank alot of soups, ate fruits..Quite healthy huh? Haha..but when we left, we were glad that it was worthwhile..cos, we had won the battle..We were actually competing with this group of secondary school girls who had been like since 3plus..My..they sure can eat huh?Anyway,we were glad that WE DIDN'T LOSE OUT TO THEM!! After that hearty meal, we walked down to Plaza Singapura, in hope of burning some calories..
[Sat] Today's my xiaomei's birthday!!!Happy 17th Birthday!!! I hope you liked the prezzie!!! Went out for a family lunch at some Indonesia restuarant at Clarke Quay..During lunch, my family talked abt how I'd be celebrating my next 2 birthdays abroad etc..I don't feel like talking about it..
[Sun] A rather tiring day..I started to pack my luggage..Decided to pack it early as I will be busy next week...It took me about 5hrs to pack most of the stuff in..Well, its 90% done, with just some last minute clothes to put in...After that long hours of packing, I felt so tired with my sneezing away..I'm allergic to dust..plus some backaches and alittle bit dehydrated..
Well, I'm quite exhausted now..Will write again..
