Sounds gross?!! Well, I don't have much of a choice really. My apologies if anybody got infected as a result of close contact with me. I am currently nursing a nasal congestion and an inflammed throat as well as the occassional grogginess that comes and goes like nobody's business. Well-wishes such as, "Get well soon", "Take care", etc are welcome. In the meantime, please disinfect yourself after viewing my blog. Till the next post, take care and load up on those vitamin Cs...
Lord, please place your healing on those who are ill. I pray that you will grant them good health. Amen.

Teddy bear hugs
The Power of Hugs by Jill Wolf
There's something in a simple hug
That always warms the heart;
It welcomes us back home
And makes it easier to part.
A hug's a way to share the joy
And sad times we go through,
Or just a way for friends to say
They like you 'cause you're you.
Hugs are meant for anyone
For whom we really care,
From your grandma to your neighbour,
Or a cuddly teddy bear.
A hug is an amazing thing -
It's just the perfect way
To show the love we're feeling
But can't find the words to say.
It's funny how a little hug
Makes everyone feel good;
In every place and language,
It's always understood.
And hugs don't need new equipment,
Special batteries or parts -
Just open up your arms
And open up your hearts.
Ever felt a time when you just need a little hug from someone to make you feel better? Hugs are miracle medicine that can provide relieve for many physical and emotional problems. I read somewhere that doctors often tell their patients to use hugging as part of their treatment for pain.
Researchers have discovered that hugging can help you live longer, protect against illness, cure depression and stress, strengthen family relationships, and even help you sleep without pills. They have discovered that when a person is touched, the amount of hemoglobin in their blood increases significantly. Hemoglobin is the part of the blood that carries vital supplies of oxygen to all organs of the body, including the heart and the brain. An increase in hemoglobin tones up the whole body, helps prevent disease, and speeds recovery from illness.
Many psychiatrists are convinced that the tender embrace can prevent or cure a host of different problems. Hugs can have an astonishing therapeutic effect by providing a sense of companionship and happiness. Studies have shown that people who are mentally run-down and depressed are far more prone to sickness than those who are not. Hugging can lift depression, enabling the body's immune system to become "tuned up." Hugging breathes fresh life into a tired body and makes you feel younger and more vibrant.
Hug your spouse, your children, friends, and relatives. The strong embrace of a friend whenever you meet is just as beneficial. It's a marvelous way to improve the quality of your life.
Guidelines for a teddy bear hug:
1) Ask for permission:
-Hugging requires a giver and a receiver. Accepting that hugging isn't for everyone is simply another form of understanding and acceptance.
-Hugging for wellness is a practice of sharing -- if you need a hug simply ask for one. And if you receive a hug, let the sender know you are appreciative.
2) Use both arms, face your partner, extend your arms and perform a full embrace
Go on, what are you waiting for? Give that someone a hug today!

Life's little joys
Ladies were squealing, running around and trying to get a view of what was happening. NO! We were not trying to be busybodies or witnessing a suicide attempt! Instead, we were trying to catch a glimpse of the rainbow that's peeking across the sky. It all started when I was winding down for the day and decided to look out of the window and saw a faint trace of the rainbow! I informed all who were in the temporary office and the ladies in the office were so excited! The men, however, were not so excited and were even claiming that we were behaving as though we were deprived of sunlight and have not seen the lights of day! Indeed, how often does one get to see a rainbow? Not often I suppose. As such, do take time out to enjoy life's little joys because you never know the wonder(s) it can do to lift your spirits after a tiring day!
The rainbow smiling at us from our office window! Can you spot it?

Rainy days
Ever heard of the all familiar nursery rhyme that we used to sing?
Rain, rain away go away,
Come again another day.
Little children want to play,
Rain, rain go away.
Last night when I was watching the news, it said that the 5 hours of rain is equivalent to half a month's worth of rain. I reckon, the rain should just travel Down Under and give the dry and parched land some rain. Seriously, all this El Nino effect is causing wreckage all over the world. But, I would not blame it on Mother Earth. Afterall, it is the consequences of our selfish human actions, what's with the air-conditioning, pollution, greenhouse gases, use of plastic bags and release of CFCs, etc. Sigh, who else to blame but the human population?
P/s: I hate rainy days!

Life's little ironies
Its funny thinking how God has created mankind. Man never seem to be satisfied with what they are given.
When there's sun, you ask for rain.
When there's rain, you ask for sun.
When its hot, you want some cool.
When its cold, you want some warmth.
When you are busy, you want some free time.
When you are free, you want to be busy.
Sigh, life's little ironies...

Year 2007
A new year, a new beginning. People often ask, "So, what's your new year resolution(s)?" To speak the truth, I seldom give myself new year resolution(s) because firstly, I seldom stick to it and at the end of the year, I would like, "Erm, you mean I actually have new year resolutions?" Secondly, why bother to "force" yourself to keep to it if you cannot do it? Why not have small, achieveable goals that you want yourself to achieve. Not to forget, we cannot control what will happen in the next second. Ever heard of the saying, "The only thing that is constant is CHANGE"?
Anyway, just in case I get asked the question that I dread the most, I thought perhaps, I would list a few resolutions:
1) To graduate with a decent degree (currently, my degree's too indecent that it hurt my eyes each time I see it)
2) Family and friends to be healthy and happy
3) To make the world a better place for living
These are mine resolutions, so, what's yours?

Year 2006
As the saying goes, "Time sure flies". Yes, I have to testify to that. Year 2006 came to an end yesterday at the stroke of midnight. I recall, just the beginning of this year that Year 2006 will be a challenging year for me. Firstly, I would be embarking on the 3rd year of my course, where I have heard "horror" stories of the many endless assignments and deadlines that one have to meet. At the end of it all, I can only let out a BIG SIGH and then say, "I DID IT!" I reckon all of my coursemates who made it through the challenging but yet fun year, deserve a a big pat on our back.
Secondly, I wondered how I would be able to get through the school year without the support of my family and friends with me. Well, as Sophie would put it, "Time flies and before you know it, you will be back in Singapore." How very true! The 9 months that I spent in Adelaide, made me learnt alot about myself as well as those around me. Friendships were rekindled and new ones were forged but of course, there were some that were let down.
Thirdly, Year 2006, gave me the opportunity to explore the land Down Under. Trips to Fleurieu Pennisular, Port Pirie, Melbourne and Flinders Ranges were some of the places that I visited.

Lastly, in the Year 2006, I also saw myself at cross-roads and relied heavily on the Lord's strength to guide me and see me through each obstacles that I met along the way. I am grateful that I've grown stronger in the Lord. Mutters, "Thank you Lord for all the things you have said and done."
