OLTC...Hibernating

With regards to my previous post, OLTC was GGRREEAATT!!! ALthough there were some hiccups during the camp, I am glad that, on the whole, the entire programme has been excuted very smoothly. I had my fair share of fun, stress, getting wet, being tired, running about, giving out instructions etc. The camp would not have been successful if not for each and everyone, people in ASc, my participants, the lecturers, and not forgetting my Organising Committee (OCs) and my 2 "arms",Co-Organisors: Woanting & Sheewee. Hmm..must give credit to my OC. To FOOD com:Thanks for making such wonderful breakfasts, dinner & the drinks. They were great energy-replenishers and thirst-quenchers. To my LOG com: Thanks for getting all the logistics required for the camp and not forgetting the beautiful set-up of the campfire. To my ADMIN com: Thanks for making all the phone calls to my OLs, informing them about the camp, stuff to bring, getting the t-shirt sizes. To my PROG com: Thanks for thinking all the games for the camp, coming up with the clues, the programme flow. All in all, nothing would have been possible if not for everybody's contribution. I certainly hoped that everybody learnt something from the task(s) that were assigned to them.

My wonderful OC, without Woan Ting. What a Pity!!!

Btw,after the camp,ASc did a profile thingy where we found out what type of personality evryone was. Alot of people thought that I was an eagle, however, in true fact, I am an OWL.

Description: Quiet, conservative, analytical
Behaviour: Retiring, introverted, pessimistic
Wants: Structure, systems, correctness
Saying(s): "Let me think about that"
Theme: Let there be order

STRENGTHS: Careful, Systematic, Restrained, Analytical, Perfectionist, Efficient, Conservative, Diplomatic, Predictable, Diligent

WEAKNESSES: Inactive, Inflexible, Withdrawn, Indecisive, Self-righteous, Disapproving, Stiff, Fearful, Boring, Fussy.

Hmm,think those who knows me will agree that I do display these personalities. Haha..as my scores for the other 3 animals are quite similiar, I can be an all-rounded ie I can play different roles under different circumstances.

Helping hand

Lazy. Tired. Mentally-drained. Stressed.

These are the reasons for my not blogging. The Orientation Leadership Training Camp (OLTC) is about 3 days away. We will be camping in school a day before the camp so we can get everything settled. Hmm..planning for OLTC started way back in Decemeber. I can't imagine that the entire organising committee has come this far. It started with 3 people, Shee Wee, Woanting & me. After that, we started recruiting people for the camp and it grew to 12 people in the organising committee. Interviews for the OLs,planning of programme flow for the camp, acquiring logistics for the camp, food, admin etc. Wow...Reminds me of the training camps that I had during St.John.

Hmm..praying that the camp will be executed smoothly. I realised, that this project is heavily subsidised by the club. A total of $2000 is budgetted for the camp. WOW!!! [Pls don't rob me!!!]I have yet to receive the money from SAA.Hmm..ok,pls check back my next entry for the camp.

Gotta go prepare and meet sophie as well as to go down to the recruit agency...Till then, take care peeps!!

Begining to doubt my ability

Psychometric test? What is it? To test whether we are sane? No!!!They are tests that are simply standard ways of assessing particular aspects of human behaviour. Broadly, there are two types: those which measure maximum performance or how well you can do something; and those which measure 'typical' performance or how you tend to react to particular situations. The first type covers most ability tests, the second inventories or questionnaires which measure personality, motivation, values, attitudes and interests. (http://www.morrisby.co.uk).

I had to go down to MOH today to do a psychometric test as I applied for the Health Sciences Scholarship by MOH. There were about 30-40 applicants, with the bulk coming from JCs. The test was about 31/2 hrs long...there were 2 sections to the test:timed and untimed section. The timed section consisted of 3 different tests, each 30 mins long. We were tested on logical reasoning where we had to identify the next pattern, numerical reasoning, where we were given mathematics problem sums. [Not easy!!!Those guys from JC also found it difficulty. Actually,I'm just trying to console myself..] Lastly, there was the part on verbal reasoning, where we were given passages and from the passage, identify each option whether they were true, false or can't tell-->requiring more information. After the gruelling 31/2hrs, we were let off for a 10mins break. Finally,I was able to relieve myself as my urinary sphincter was contracting real bad.

After that, we had to do a personality test consisting of 171 qns plus 14 IQ qns and 60 qns on our general health. Overall, I thought I screwed up the part on the numerical reasoning. I was stumped when I read the 1st qns. I couldn't understand what the qns was asking and I panicked!!! [SIGH!!] When I told my dad that I found the maths part hard, he looked disappointed. But I really tried my best. Also, taking this test is far more difficult that mugging for an exam. Why? Because, for exam, we study & prepare for it. However, for this test, though I prepared for it, it was mentally draining, on top off all those pressure. Thankfully, my mum just told me to do my best. Right now, I can only continue to pray that I will be called up for an interview.

Think about It

An email that I received at the very correct time. Did I make a wrong move on my part or as what Maria would say, that we need destiny before 2 parties can be together? I really treasure the times spent with you but somehow, I feel betrayed and yet, another part of me, yearns for your tender loving care. No matter what, let's still be friends.

At the beginning:
Think back to the day when you first laid eyes on her. You found yourself charmed by the way she talks, the way she dresses herself to show off her best features and the way she embraces life with her laughter. It seemed as if a mysterious "chemistry effect" has suddenly developed to draw you closer to her. Tis is the Fundamentals of Love.

You two then began to meet regularly, and you discover more things that you admire about her. Her clever ideas, her healthy values and the way she stands up for you when others doubt you. You find yourself thinking of her not just as a normal friend, but a very good friend. It is often during this period that a boy and a gal will start thinking of bringing their friendship to another level. After all, the kind of wonderful experience you have between each other can only become even better if it develops into a romantic relationship. In other words, the feeling is really unique - no one else seems able to replace her in your heart. So both of you agree to be together and work even harder on the relationship. You "graduate" to become a couple, and are the envy of the sea of singles.

When You Forget The Fundamentals
However, at some point in your relationship, you forgot how it all began. You start to take your partner for granted. Why can't she laugh in a more ladylike manner? Why doesn't she dress herself more trendily? Why must she assert her views and point out your silly mistakes? Is she really the one for you?

To be fair to yourself and to her, take some time to reflect on your "love memory". The "love memory' contains all the reasons that you fell in love with her right from Day One. It contains rarely accessed snippets of how your life has changed since meeting and loving her.

Pre-attached days, did you heap compliments on her for the brave way she spoke her mind on bullies and snobs? You probably did. Did you like her unusual fashion sense that makes her stand out from the crowd? Right-o. So why are you criticising or finding fault with her now that she is your girlfriend?

Because you have forgotten the fundamentals of love, like so many of us. You have forgotten the reasons you admired her during the friendship phase. Instead, once you get attached, you put your "love memory" in cold storage. As her boyfriend, you take up a new set of demands and expectations about her. These new ideas are not necessarily better; they could put your relationship at risk.

The Secret Of Strong Relationships
A healthy relationship, like learning to walk properly, follows a step-by-step development. You can't possibly become part of a couple if you aren't friends in the first place. Ok, I know some of us break the rule and plunge straight into whirlwind courtship, but how many of those couples can go the distance? Couplehood works well when there is something you like about her (and vice versa), and I'm not referring to merely the physical aspects.

So whenever your relationship hits a rocky path, don't give up without checking on your "love memory". Rediscover the reasons why you fell in love with her, and watch your relationship flourish with a newfound vigour.

"Follow the rule of love and enjoy it, as loving someone is a wonderful and sweet experience."

When Ur BEST isn't GOOD enough

"Beep beep!!"Handphones started to vibrate. Faces started to ashen as they worry about the type of results they would receive. Soon, there were faces of jubilation, worried ones, blank ones etc. At that time, I felt that all the butterflies in the world have flown into my stomach.I didn't sign up for the sms service to receive my results. I was scared. Not used to receiving it via sms. Can't imagine how I'll do...

My Academic Status: COMPLETED COURSE OF STUDY FOR THE DIPLOMA IN APPLIED FOOD SCIENCE & NUTRITION. Shouldn't I be happy? Despite reading this line, I feel that I have not performed as well as I expected myself. I got a C+ for ND, I have not received a C+ for the last 4 semesters other than in year1,sem1 for SFP. Other than that, the lowest I have ever gotten was a B. My goodness!!!My parents were glad that I had completed mycourse of study and am able to move on to the next phase in my life. I am rather apprenhensive about uni life, I do not know what to expect, how the australians will perform in their studies. Also, as I'm entering the 2nd sem of yr2 in Flinders University, people will look at you in a different way, expecting you to be good...I hate this type of pressure...meeting people's expectations and looking at you through stained glasses..Hmm..I only have to ask that the LOrd will be with me throughout every phase of my journey. Bless me dear Lord!

When the pressures of living
are starting to mount,
Take a good look around you,
at the thnigs that really count.
Warmer summer days,
the sweet smile of your child,
Seeing family and friends
from across the miles.
Find time to smell the roses
or enjoy a peaceful meal.
Spend the day with your Love,
flying kites in a field.
Life can't be just rainbows
as most of us know.
But with each new experience,
we strengthen and grow.
Since most of our days
do not go exactly as planned,
Take the bad with the good,
and do the best that you can.

What A Week..

A week has passed since my last exam paper...Hmm..still looking for part-time job...I've send in numerous applications but there's still no reply from anybody...Anyway, let me summarise what I've been doing for this week...

[Sun] Hmm...think I was slacking at home and working on my powerpt slides for my upcoming MP presentation at CGH.

[Mon] Chat to Sophie (she's my best friend in sec sch & she still is NOW). Still working on the powerpt slides, compiled the slides together with Sandy's and send it to Ms Ong for vetting. I did until I got a heacdache, guessed my brain got too much rest until it was not used to working so hard...Haha...

[Tue] Went to school to meet shee wee & woanting to work on the t-shirt design for OLTC at 9.30am, then went for final OL interview..After that, I went to phoebe's house to work on the "autograph" for Ms Choo...Oh yar, something bad happened, as I was walking back to AS school for the interview, the slipper that I was wearing had a "crocodile" mouth and before I reached the rm, the entire sole came out..Thank goodness I bought the glue for shoes and managed to glue back the sole with the help of Sheewee's weight (hEY!,no offense kayz!!)

[Wed] Went back to sch for meeting with Week 0's committee and lecturers...we brainstormed from 10am -5pm...super taxing on the brain...just like going back to school!!! Finally, we settled on the "Lord of The Rings" theme, where the freshies will be introduced to the theme and every programme planned will be have a purpose...

[Thur] Went back to sch yet again..this time is to meet my MP supervisor, Ms Ong, for our presentation on friday as well as to hear the comments that she has for our group report and to make the necessary changes asap...Although we came to a consensus that we can submit next week, I wanted to do the changes asap since Sandy & I have plans to start working...After editting my powerpt slides, went to meet my ASc people to get the BBQ for the chalet...Having the retreat was GGRREEAATT!! There was interaction between the sub-coms and main coms and "secrets" were revealed in the midst of getting drunk!!! Haha..Anyway, it was Woan Ting's birthday and we bought a cake for her...the plan was to dunk her into the swimming pool but then, she had already showered and her parents were waiting for her liao, so, being understanding, we didn't..btw, Happy 19th Birthday, Woanting!!!Hope you enjoyed your day!!

[Fri] Went to CGH for our presentation..It was nice to be back at the department...had alot of teasing from the staff and my supervisor mentioned that Sandy & I were the 1st group of SIP students to have the most number of teasings!!!Haha..They commented that we did a good job but we felt that it was not up to standard..keke..Nonetheless, its FINALLY over!!!Just need to perform some editting to my report then can snail mail it to my supervisor liao...Hmm...I can't wait for the outing with the department on 16th April. Oh yar, when we wanted to take our leave, I told my supervisor not to miss us but she assured us that she won't because she's sure that we will come back to visit the department someday...Hmm,I can only say, we have to wait and see...

[Sat] Visited the dentist today as I had an infected gum because my wisdom tooth on my right lower jaw refused to grow out onto the gum...Thanks so much for the acquired wisdom!!!(pardon the pun!)...

Hmm...right now, I don't know how to describe my feelings now..feeling "mao dun"...Lord, please guide me..Give me the assurance that all will be well and I ask that my results are what I've expected myself to perform...Amen
