Birthday Hijack!

Together with a group of close friends and coursemates, we planned a MEMBORABLE 21st birthday celebration for Phoebe and 1 that she would live to tell the tale. Planning started right after I ended my exam paper on 21st June, with my devious mind thinking and planning how her party would be on the selected date.

Phoebe did not suspect a thing when I stayed up late the week that school started with no pressing assignment or readings that was "supposedly" due. She found it funny but I managed to crap some excuse up. Anyways, to cut the story short, Phoebe was pleased with the birthday bash! YAY!! Success, people! She was floured on her way to Jun's house for "dinner" and then, her ears were treated with "POPS!" erupting from the party poppers. Also, I have never realised that Phoebe can be so obedient. We were in the midst of playing mafia where we had to close our eyes. While our game master, Jeannie, instructed all of us to close our eyes, we got busy and started to prepare for the cake as well presenting the present to her!

Phoebe, I'm glad that you enjoyed the birthday celebration. Like I said, I promised to make your turning 21 the most memorable 1 ever! Happy Birthday girl!

First Day of School

First day of school. Felt good to be back to be able to catch with friends and coursemates. On the other hand, the mad adrenalin rush to complete your readings and assignments on time is starting to seep in bit by bit. I hate it! Why is N&D at Flinders so infamously known for being busy and having tonnes of readings and assignments? Perhaps, that is the difference between the science and the arts stream. These arts students sure have it easy! Anyways, while I got started on my first reading for the semester, this song popped into my head, one that I used to sing during Chapel sessions.

Its true! I don't know what will happen tomorrow and I will never seem to understand but I have this assurance from my Lord that whatever happens, it is by his will. Yes, my coursework may bore me and occupy most of my time but I am assured that this is part of the great plan that the Lord has for me.

Lord, thank you for reminding me of your presence whenever we are in doubt or are lost and looking for a direction. Lord, thank you for the many friendships that have been forged and for allowing my path and that of others to be crossed so that we may help each other along the way. Thank you, Lord! Amen.

Trip M

Time flies. School officially starts tomorrow!! ARGH! Anyways, my trip to Melbourne or Trip M was a GOOD one! Enjoyed every bit of my time there! In that short 6 days, I've been on a train journey passing through acres and acres of land, been to the snowy mountain, been to the sub-tropical rainforests, been to the Great Ocean, been to the hills, been back in good, old Victorian times and of course, a very Metropolitan city!!By the way, did you know that there's a Charles & Keith shoe shop, a HMV music store and not forgetting the trusty 7-eleven 24-hour shop? I know I sound like a country bumpkin but you see, we do not get these shops in Adelaide as such, for the time that I was there, I could not help but compare BORING Adelaide with EXCITING Melbourne! Alright, enough of crap, enjoy the pics!

Gratitude is expressed to Chiang Mun and her bf, Eric as well as Clayton for bringing us around Melbourne as well as Kar Hian for being our "chaffeur" and waking up at odd hours of the morning! Till then, take care!

Trips are keeping me entertained!

Yupz, indeeed going on getaways does have a therapeutic effect on one. You would be surprised at how much the body gets recharged and you find yourself ready to take on any challenge that may be put in your path. Anyways, I've just returned from my observational placements at Port Pirie where I had a ball of a time. Being able to experience what a country community dietitian do in the country helped me understand the topics that I have done and will be doing in the fast approaching semester.

See the "chimney"..Its the lead smelters. Lead is a problem with Port Pirie and alot of health promotion is done to help children below the age of 5 to have blood lead levels within the healthy range.

Port Pirie's version of Big Brother (BB) House:
Folks who are studying in Aussieland or in UK who have heard about this tv reality series, BB. Basically, housemates stay in a big house without any contact with the outside world, learn to live with each other and have to follow house rules set by BB. Any rules broken (e.g. talking when Big Brother is talking), the housemate gets fined. Each week, housemates are nominated by their other housemates and the public then vote for the top 3 nominees to be saved (ie they remain in the house for another week) or evicted.

Port Pirie's BB or rather, its name for the on-site accomodation is because the facilities provided by the accomodation is shared between 8 people (there are only 8 rooms in the accomodation). As house mates have to learn to get along with each other in the reality show, it is also the aim of the Port Pirie Regional Health Service for people to get along with each other.
