My wake up call this morning was unusual. I was greeted by a long and persistent ringing and I jolted out of bed, exclaiming, "Its the FIRE ALARM!!". Damn!! I went round knocking loudly on the doors of my immediate neighbours in hope of jolting them up and getting out of the hall. There were a few faces that gave a sleepy and blur look.
We all strolled down to the front lawn outside of Uni Hall while we waited for the first fire truck to come. We waited and waited and finally, after 10-15 mins later, did the first truck arrived without even sounding the siren. Well, I guess the fire brigade at St. Mary's must have been so used to false alarms ringing from Uni Hall that they didn't even rush out of the truck. After a good 20 minutes out in the lawn, were we allowed back into our rooms. Yes, the fire alarm has not gone of for a LLOONNGG, Long time ever since the first fire drill experienced some time in the middle of february.
And what caused the fire alarm to go off? Well, apparently, as winter is starting to set in, people now shower with a hot shower in hope keeping/warming themselves up. And so, as you may have guessed it, Yes, it is the STEAM that caused the fire alarm to go off...
As the dates of the exams are fast approaching, I can only hope that there will not be another one happening the night before an exam paper!!I need my sleep people and yes, the smoke detectors are very sensitive!

Course Pictures
Phew! Time sure fly too when one is busy. This week's been a tiring one for me. As mentioned in my previous post the number of assignments that needed to be completed and submitted. Well, I must say I am glad that the week is coming to an end, which also means that as of 19th May, I have 1 month to start studying and preparing for the exams, where my first paper happens to fall on 19th June. Anyway, talking about studying, I feel so tired. Totally drained, from all the readings and summaries and assignments that needs to be completed weekly. You know, the only thing that keeps me going besides my faith, is the weekends and the upcoming winter vacation. I am certainly looking forward to the break, which I hope would be a well-spent one (Mummy, I hope to hear good news from you soon!!). Ok enough of my rattling.
The Nutrition & Dietetics Department at Flinders University decided to organise a photo-taking session for the entire Bachelor's and Masters' students. This was timely as our head-of-department, Lynne, will be leaving Flinders to take up another post at QUT. Well, as the saying, one uni's gain is another uni's lost. Yupz, although she has only taught us for a few weeks in the first term, I have to admit, she is good. She is able to stimulate students into thinking for themselves and out of the box. Each time I attend her tutes, I am always kept on my feet. Well, her absence will be missed at the department and here's wishing her all the best for her future endeavours!

How can be a dietitian without the help of them?

Handwritting personality
Hey all, decided to take a little break off from my reports! Yes, I have heaps due this week. Let me emphasize how many are assignments & readings are due this week. On tuesday: 2 (1 summary for NRF, 1 schema qns sheet for obesity case study), on Wednesday: 1 summary due for SCI, on Thursday: 2 (1 N&D assignment due and schema qns for readings on hyperlipideamia), Friday:2 (Food Product Research (FPR) report and the presentation due). All in all for this week, I have 7 stuff that are due for submission/discussions. Enough to frighten you? Haha..I think I can still manage that although I think I am beginning to need more than 1 pair of glasses ;p. Ok enough of my rattling on about schoolwork cos it doesn't seem to end does it?
Anyway, I came across the Queen's blog and saw this handwritting personality and decided to try it. Yes, let's see what my handwritting say about me.

You plan ahead, and are interested in beauty, design, outward appearance, and symmetry.
You are a person who thinks before acting, intelligent and thorough.
You are affectionate, passionate, expressive, and future-oriented.
You are a talkative person, maybe even a busybody!
You enjoy life in your own way and do not depend on the opinions of others.
What does your handwriting say about YOU?

Project Stress
I feel like a freak without any life. Ever since the start of the second term, I find myself being buried underneath tonnes of readings, assignments and summaries with weekly submissions. For my family and friends in Singapore, do be more understanding if I am slow in replying emails or my less frequent "appearance" on MSN. Yes, I must say that schoolwork is starting to take it toil on me. I am beginning to feel the effects of working too hard. Let me enact a scenario for you.
Last semester, last year, lights out for me used to be at 10pm and I get about 10hours of sleep each day. Now, semester 1 in year 2006, lights out for me is at 11.30pm and wake-up call is at 7.45am. Whatever happen to my more than 8hours of sleep??No wonder, I feel sleep-deprived evey morning.
What is worst, I heard from my seniors that it is going to get even more hectic in the second semester. How am I going to embrace myself for it? Well, I guess, we all have to take things 1 step at a time and if possible, walk faster if we need to and be ahead of schedule. I only hope, I will have good time management. Alright folks, time to head back to my readings before I hit the sack..Till then, take care..
