End of contract

As of today at 2100hrs, I would have officially ended my contract with Loreal. Time sure pass really quick! I know this phrase is cliche but, its true! Anyway, selling Loreal Excellence hair colour is no mean feat!Pursuading customers that this colour look nice on them, how to apply the hair colour, doing stocks, taking stocks, worrying about my daily sales target etc. However, I learnt alot from selling hair colour. Personally, I feel that I learnt alot more from this working experience. Maybe, I am left to my own devices and it is up to us how we want to make each job a fulfilling one.

I remembered asking Jennifer, our I/C for all the promoters, about getting the staff at either Watsons/guradian to collect the receipt for us when we are not at the selling floor. She said, "YES! that would be good! But it depends on our working relationship with the staff".Anyway, I have tonnes of colleagues, friends (Zann, Yu Ting, Liya,Alex). I hope, the friendship will last and, guys, Let's Keep in Touch!

Those were the days

Since I started working as a promoter for Loreal Hair Colour, it seem as if I have not used the internet for ages. Anyway, I was reading the blogs that my friends have posted and came across one read that struck me. She wrote about her secondary school days where we all wanted to fit in so as to be accepted by the girls/guys deemed as the cool group.

Also, people in the 80's year, do you remember all the stuff that we went through in primary and secondary school? I remembered mine. Spending 10years of my education in an all girls' school does have its benefits. Of course, in a single sex school, I tend to think that whatever boys can do, so can girls. Also, I had problems behaving in front of boys when I met them for the first time. Of course, I have my brother and father and male cousins but the feeling is not the same. You can't possibly treat your boy friend(s) the way you treat your family. I also had a shock when I entered poly.Seeing students dressed in home clothes and boys in your class.Thank God, that my course has more girls than boys..With each experience, I learnt how to "tackle" boys.

Anyway,my experience in secondary school was spent in a rather ordinary way. In secondary one, I was posted to the last Express class as my PSLE aggregate was bad(210).As such, most of the teachers often threatened my class that if we do not perform well, the class will drop to normal. So much for the encouragements! I strived hard to do my best. Ok, despite the striving I failed 2 subjects during my mid-year exams. But for my final year, I finally passed those 2 subjects (literature & history).I was in the top 10 in my class. I made it to Sec.2. In secondary 2, I was assigned with more responsibility by being elected as a prefect. GREAT!I missed an entire week of class due to the sec 1 orientation. Thank God the teachers were nice enough to conduct extra classes for the 4 of us. In Sec 3, seniors often classify this year as the "honeymooon period" before we "settle down" in Sec 4 for our O levels. Anyhow, for most of us in Sec 3, besides juggling our studies, we needed to shine in our CCA so that we will be given leadership positions and for some, in the prefectorial board. Seriously, I could not care more for the prefectorial board as I gave my CCA for priority. Of course, I did my duty as a prefect. Then, came sec 4. That year, I felt shut out from the rest of the school as preparing for the O levels was more important than any other things. Also, the baton needed to be past on to the next batch of juniors.

Well, this was how I felt during my secondary school days. But, I am greatful for the the many friendships that has been forged throughout this year! Take care, my friends!

Dear friends,

Thank you for your concerns and advice for the past few days. I would like to assure all of you that I am still the same old me. The only down side of me is that I have to be on medication until I don't know when. Anyway, I am really grateful for all the concerns and care!

Sophie: Thanks for being there for me! Also, thank you for the advice on the type of food(s) to consume. I think, you must have forgotten which course I am currently pursuing. But, anyhow, thanks for all the encouragements!It would not have been possible with you.

Sally: Thanks for asking after me, gal. I am fine. Seriously! Thanks for the "nagging" that you gave me to take my medication on time. I will,girl!

Jasmine: Thanks for asking after me too. I'm glad you are touched for receiving the christmas card that I sent you every year. I guess, since we seldom see each other, receiving something from a friend reminds you that you have someone out there who cares for you.

Phoebe: Thanks for all the advice that you have given. I'm sure you will understand what I'm going through. I sure hope that when we return to Adelaide, our friendship will strengthen.


Once again, I would like to assure out of you that, YES, I'm coping well and am the same girl you once knew me!

Thyroid

Great! While I am working, I noticed a bump under my chin. I was shocked! Well, went to the doctor today to get it checked out. She told me to stretch out my hand. They were trembling. (first sign) Next, she took my pulse. It was beating 120 beats per minute. Wow!(second sign). Finally,she performed a thyroid function test to determine the level of hormones in my blood and the result will be out in a few days time.

I decided to google the disease and this is what medline plus explained.

The thyroid is a gland that controls key functions of your body. Disease of the thyroid gland can affect nearly every organ in your body and harm your health. Thyroid disease is eight times more likely to occur in women than in men. In some women it occurs during or after pregnancy. In most cases, treatment of thyroid disease is safe and simple.

The thyroid gland is located at the base of your neck in front of your trachea (or windpipe). It has two sides and is shaped like a butterfly.

The thyroid gland makes, stores, and releases two hormones — T4 (thyroxine) and T3 (triiodothyronine). Thyroid hormones control the rate at which every part of your body works. This is called your metabolism.

The thyroid gland is controlled by the pituitary gland (a gland in your brain). The pituitary gland makes thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH).
If there is not enough thyroid hormone in the bloodstream, the body's metabolism slows down.
This is called hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid). If there is too much thyroid hormone, your metabolism speeds up. This is called hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid).

Ok, I think I have hyperthyroidism. Hyperthyroidism results when the thyroid gland is making too much thyroid hormone. This causes your metabolism to speed up.

The most common cause of hyperthyroidism is a disorder known as Graves' disease. It most often affects women between the ages of 20 and 40 years.

The more common symptoms of hyperthyroidism are:
Fatigue
Weight loss
Nervousness
Rapid heart beat
Increased sweating
Feeling hot when others don't
Changes in menstrual periods
More frequent bowel movements
Tremors

Treatment for hyperthyroidism will lower the amount of thyroid hormone and relieve your symptoms.

What a way to start the new year. Well, I hope, it would be too disatrous!

New Year Eve's

My this year's new year eve was spend selling Loreal hair colours.Well, it is only the second day of my contract.I neeed to sall a total of 31 boxes each day to reach my daily sales target. If I manage to hit my month's target of 543, I would be able to receive a $200 worth of Loreal products in a hamper. Sounds like a good motivation?

But, sales wasn't that bad. When I arrived at the store in the morning, sales were really slow. Until before my break, I barely sold 10 boxes.

After my break, things began to look better. Finally, at the end of the day at 8pm when I wrap things up, I sold 40 boxes in total. So, as usual, all of the Loreal promoters located all over Singapore need to sms our sales figure to Jennifer, the Loreal product executive. Jennifer's message really made my day when I told her that I sold 40boxes of excellence and 3 boxes of feria.
