Its already the month of May

Wow. Entering into the fifth month of the year 2008. Unbelievable. With another 6 more days, I will have been a dietitian for 4 months now. It feels as though I have been at it for ages. My learning curve has been steep and now, I will have my own weight management clinic every thursday morning. Freaky!!

I thought this will also be a good time for me to reflect on how my New Year's resolutions have progressed so far. Read here

Resolution 1: Grow in His faith
I have started to sow in God's word and awaiting for my harvest time to reap bountifully. The Lord has time and again answered my prayers and I am grateful for serving a Living God. I'm not an evangelist but I hope that those around me will learn of the Lord's great works.

Resolution 2: Spend quality time with family and friends
Despite being busy with work and returning home exhausted at the end of each working day, I feel I have grown closer to my family. Quality time is not defined as the number of hours I spent at home but rather the quality (if it makes sense). Keep it going, Jo!

Resolution 3: Keep fit by scheduling jogging/gym sessions
Ok, I have to admit, I just started training only last week, with my colleagues. Looking forward to this Sunday's run with Soph!

Some runs that I may/will be registering:
  • 10.5km Sundown Ultra-marathon Team Relay
  • 15km PAssion run
  • 10km Shape run
  • 10km GE run
  • 21km Standard Chartered marathon
Resolution 4: Improve nutrition knowledge
Learning alot each day as I deal with different cases. Some challenging counselling that I've done/learnt so far: post-gastrectomy diet, esophagastrectomy diet, Vitamin K (warfarin therapy), weight management and meal replacement plans, malnutrition and refeeding syndrome. I'm grateful that I have a bunch of colleagues whom I can count on to ask for help.

I'm glad that I signed up for the accredited practising dietitian programme.

Resolution 5: Be patient
I'm still learning. Its so easy to lose it with tempers flaring, fluctuating work loads and demanding/unreasonable doctors.

Perhaps, I will check back again sometime in Sept to see how far I've progressed or regressed.

Ps: Jo is thankful that God has given her a second shot and she is looking forward to see how things go for Mon's dinner.
