Childhood Dream(s) VS Reality

Childhood dreams??? Do you remember urs?

Wearing a dark blue pinafore, white belt and white blouse, I remembered fondly those primary 1 days when my English teacher used to make each student write the composition title, "My Ambition". Without hesitation, I would describe about a lady, dressed in white, wearing an odd-shaped, white hat with a red-coloured cross on it. I was very certain that I wanted to be like her, helping helpless patients who required our care and attention.

Looking back, I realised that my ambition has steered alittle of this path. Now, instead of wanting to become a nurse and being addressed as "MISSY", I wanted so much to become a dietitian, where I am able to counsel patients on the type of diet that they are able to eat. As the type of dieases that Singapore is suffering from, are mostly diet-related, people need to watch what they put into their mouth, too much of something will be detrimental to our health. Despite the recent attention to our health, people still take for granted that the diet plays a part in our getting hypertension or, diabetes, or CVD (cardiovascular diseases)...Why do people only start to make changes to their diet when they get the disease? Whatever happen to the saying, "prevention is better than cure"?

The 3yrs spent in TP was fulfilling. Many friendships were forged from my caregrp (AA36), ASc, my kakis, thru TP events etc..Wat's more, I learnt to make positive changes to my diet, learnt to practice healthier eating habits like removing the skin from the chicken, snack on fruits rather than chips etc. Yes, of course, Singapore is a food-paradise, but too bad I'm not 1 who appreciate food that much, so, I certainly do NOT regret making these changes...
