My reply? No, its the company and the feeling of satisfaction when you cross the finishing line, waiting to gulp down a can of ICE, COLD 100Plus. As simple as that. Of course, Sophie will add, "And the medal!" Really, running pushes one's perseverance during a race. Every race that I run is different, although most runs usually happen around the CBD area. Elements such as road conditions, weather, number of water points, route markers, number of slopes, etc and make or break a race. It helps that Soph is great running partner and I cannot ask for more!
Nevertheless, I found myself asking this question when I woke up this morning, "Why on earth did I sign up for the Safra/ Bay run?" Knowing that there will more guy runners than women (think sweaty, smelly BO) and the thought of having to brush against sweaty bods, irks me. The race was good despite the lack of training, with more walking than usual but managing to finish within our targeted time.
However, I was pushed to the limit when Soph and I decided to collect the race pack for the Nike Humanrace happening next Sunday. It was a 3 1/2 hour wait and the queue snaked like nobody's business. All I want to do now is to recuperate my tired aching legs - no, not from running but from the 3 1/2 hours of queuing and standing. Its worst than shopping.

Looking satisfied after the race.
