Laziness

Laziness can be defined as the lack of desire to act or to do things. Temporary laziness, or rest, is often considered to be of great value. Permanent laziness is considered a negative quality such as a sloth.

The exams are fast approaching and I have only just started my revision. Why am I not worried or anxious about not being able to finish my revision? Can someone out there help me or give me a pushing force?

In the bible, Proverbs 20:13 says,"Do not love sleep or you will grow poor; stay awake and you will have food to spare." This verse in Proverbs address a certain work ethic that deals with a life discipline that must be cultivated in order to be successful in life, that is, overcoming laziness in the form of sleeping too much. Sleeping is, of course, a necessary thing for our bodies, just as eating is also necessary. However, when we overindulge in food, we become fat and unhealthy, just as an overindulgence in sleep will produce laziness, that in turn leads to poverty.

Discipline in the Christian life is one of the hardest things to attain and we all need the help of the Holy Spirit in order to accomplish a disciplined lifestyle. The Bible teaches that we should practice moderation in all things. <
