The tempo shifted a notch higher as the hospital moves into high gear while preparing for JCIA audit starting next week. In the midst of all this i.e. high referral rates, my colleagues and I still managed to find time for some light heartedness.
My mentor knowing that I have been feeling "dejected" for the past week since the tactless text message that I received, she decided to match-make to a physiotherapy friend who used to work at the hospital but has since resigned and working in a NHG hospital. My mentor was also jealous that I get to enjoy on a 2D2N tour with her "lover". Anyhow, I started becoming their middle person as I'm working in the same ward as her "lover" - by telling her lover that I'm on a mission to assist my mentor in stealing a pair of underwear from him during the trip. He reacted to this statement by telling her to get him a pair and he will wear and give it to her. To help my mentor, I played along and brought a pair of disposable underwear for him. My mentor left a lipstick mark and wrote a lil' note to him. I had the honourable task of handing it to him.
However, with my pockets full of stamps and calculator and what not, I dropped the parcel couple of times in the ward. Finally, when I was in that ward, I made him take the parcel himself from my pocket by saying that my mentor had something for him and I told him to read the message in private - considering that there were many nurses around at the nurses station, with tempers about to flare. What a way to end the tiring and hectic work week. (:
Oh..I will definitely miss my mentor when she leaves to pursue graduate medicine.
